Construction Process
Foundation

Foundation

When we begin construction on your Artisan home, we first prepare settings for the form boards for the concrete foundation. As with any construction, inclement weather can delay this process. During this time, we will need you to make some decisions on the roofing, brick, stone or stucco for your home. In the following weeks, we will schedule a meeting with our designer to pick colors, cabinets, tile, and flooring.

Framing and Rough Trades

The next step in the process is framing and window/door installation. Utility lines and access will also be installed at this point.

Exterior

Exterior

At this time we will begin the work on the exterior of your Artisan home. We will start by installing the stucco, brick, rock and siding. This process takes several weeks, but you will see your home start to take shape outside.

Insulation and Drywall

After all the inspections are finished, we will have the insulation that you have chosen for your Artisan home installed. Sheetrock installation is next and we offer several different types of applications.

Wood Floors and Tile

Wood Floors and Tile

Hardwood floors are one of the things most homeowners love the most about their new home. Tile is also done at this stage of the build process.

Trim Carpentry

Trim Carpentry

With all your wood floor and tile installed, we begin the trim. Trim in an Artisan home is what defines our product. We take great care in the installation of all doors, cabinets, and trim. We install several different levels of trim in our homes.

Painting

Next, we begin the process of finishing all the cabinets, doors and trim that we installed earlier. At this point in the construction, we will have all the granite installed.

After they have covered all the cabinets, and trim, we begin prepping the walls for paint. All of your color choices will begin to come together. You are only a few short weeks from moving in and enjoying your new home.

Final Exterior Work

Final Exterior Work

During this step, we will install the driveway and begin the final grade of the property. After the grade is complete, we will install sprinklers and landscaping. If necessary, we will then touch up the final grade for the install of the sod.

Occupancy

In the last few weeks or days before closing on your new home, we install the carpet, mirrors and glass. After all the work is complete, we will walk through your new Artisan Home and make a list of all the things which need to be perfected. The day before we close we will do an orientation about the house to ensure you’re satisfied with all the touch-ups.

Energy Conscious

Final Exterior Work

At Artisan Construction we feel the best way to save money, in the long run, is a well-built home. At Artisan we use several different methods of the latest home construction techniques to accomplish energy efficiency. Our homes include the following:

Insulation

Properly installing insulation in walls, attics and floors creates increased comfort by ensuring even temperatures throughout our homes. There are several different ways to insulate your home, batt insulation, BIB system and Full Foam insulation. We install the BIB system in most of our homes because we believe it is the best quality for the investment. We insulate all of our attics to an R-38.

High-Performance Windows

With more than 20 years of experience installing windows through our Remodeling Company, we know that energy efficient windows are a top priority for our customers. We use the highest quality vinyl windows with Low E and Argon gas to ensure that your home is as comfortable in the winter as in the summer. Our multi-chamber energy efficient vinyl windows have a ¾ inch of air space between the glass so that the heat and cold will not transfer into the house.

Quality Construction

While most companies are still using house-wrap, we believe that the Zip wall system is better. ZIP System wall sheathing’s built-in water resistant barrier keeps bulk water out during and after construction. We install the panels and tape the seams for a code-recognized structural panel, water-resistive barrier and air barrier all-in-one.

  • Won’t blow off, tear or require rework like house-wrap.
  • Specially engineered to allow moisture vapor to travel through the panel, allowing walls to breathe and dry out.
  • No risk of water becoming trapped between house-wrap and sheathing, which could result in moisture-related issues.

Energy Efficient Heat and Air

In addition to using less energy to operate, energy-efficient heating and cooling systems will reduce indoor humidity, run more quietly and improve the overall comfort of the home.

  • We start by sealing all ducts with mastic sealant or metal (foil) tape to seal all the vents, registers, and ducts.
  • We use R-8 Ducts.
  • We also install all of our units to Energy Star Standards.

Lighting and Appliances

Artisan homes come equipped with proven energy efficient products such as lighting fixtures, compact fluorescent bulbs, ventilation fans, and appliances. These energy efficient products provide additional energy savings to the homeowner for the life of the fixtures.

Third-Party Verification

Our Home Energy Raters conduct onsite testing and inspections to verify energy efficiency performance levels. Artisan Construction has chosen the most appropriate energy-saving features for its customers’ homes.
